For someone who kept defending that 'tard Natalie Maines and her right to free speech, you're certainly forgetting my right to it. If I want to RANT and be RUDE and ARROGANT, why not? If you don't like it, don't read them. If Paul G doesn't like it, he can tell me himself.
Well you told a bald faced lie then. If what he says is true, then you are telling information you have no proof off, a pic you cannot verify is the person in question and giving out information that is at the very minimum second hand and saying you had it first hand. So keeping the peace would be to expose your lie then right?

And as for forgetting who had a their right to speech...everyone seems to forget the moderators have it as well. Not to mention..I'm only a moderator in Crafts and Beadwork and Trading post.. I have no power here in Native Issues other than to speak my opinion as well.

Hey , I'm not defending C rock... I don't like his attitude either myself.. just trying to tell you guys that you are'nt making sense anymore and getting nowhere with your arguments. If you can't deal with that.. then oh well.. quit defending yourself to me. I can be just as easily ignored by you and you say I can ignore your posts.

So now putting Jinglin Chica on ignore... and back to spit wad making...

What blackbear is doing is telling people it is not wise to publicly offer to trade feathers (i.e., barter with them). If you are caught you will be prosecuted by the feds and doing it on an open board like this is just plain stupid.

More over she is stating it to keep this board from being implicated in any investigation of violations of the Fed. Eagle Protection act. It is part of the job of we moderators especially back in the Trading Post forum. She is stating that if you are choosing to do so you are doing so at your own risk!

                  Have a nice day!

                  • Exactly.. consider it a disclaimer. I never jumped on anyone about trading feathers.. that's your own business. It's other members here that have a problem with trading feathers.

                    so shut YOUR face.:p

                        • I believe it was ( and still is) Women in Regalia Part 2.. white dancer discussion Part 1001. Way back a few pages ago, I posted a reply concerning my own involvement with powwows and dancing. I approached this topic with kid gloves due to the way the discussion was going. If non ndn people would come with open minds, actually ready to learn, and not act as if they know it all, then maybe we could get some where. The tandy clan road kill dancers need to take a few steps back from the arena and observe. That's how I learned what I know today. I didn't just go and decide it would be cool to do this and anybody else who doesn't do it my way is wrong. (There are some things you just don't do because you are bound to get people ticked off at you.) Unfortunately, I have seen people who do a lot of strange stuff in the dance arena (like backing out of the arena while facing the center of it...too strange) and wonder what the background of it is. Just because I have learned about protocol and traditions doesn't mean I can stop learning either. Every group of people (north, south, east, west) has something they do that is a little bit different....the basic protocol is the same, but everybody has their differences. Just because a non ndn person learned about the traditions of one tribe (from an elder or whomever) it doesn't give them the right to say the traditions of another tribe are wrong. No one person knows it all.....except the Creator of course. Life is supposed to be a learning experience. I, for one, will never stop wanting to learn, so I come with an open mind because there is always something new to learn. That's it for now.............

                            • Somebody around here explained at one time that it was to honor the dance arena, but don't you honor that space when you bless the arena before things get started? I think that it might be another one of those made up traditions which somebody thought would be cool to do....like this one person doing this step...stop....step....stop.....thing as if she were waiting for a harmonic convergence or something of that nature. Another thing that I have seen is a "regrand entry". Some people around here seem to think that any time you finish dancing to a song and there is a break, that you have to enter like you are having another grand entry. There were bales of hay to sit down on, but nobody bothered to mark their spot with a blanket (with the exception of maybe a handful of people, some friends of mine, and myself). They just had a regrand entry every time. I just got up from my spot and danced. With things such as this going on, it's no wonder that ndn people get upset when they see non ndns (me included) dance. I believe I can understand why this continues to happen and why this discussion keeps getting rehashed. There will always be people who think they know it all and dispute the truth coming from the people whose culture it is.
To all of those tandy clan road kill dancer wierdos....get a life, take a step back, learn something, and quit making up your own protocol just because you think it looks cool. That's not the way that it is done & you're giving the rest of us a bad name.

Lots of people here don’t know me, that’s why they don’t understand me, so after having ridden these few lines, you can judge me rightly.

So I finally convinced my mom to let me learn the culture. She is even going to take some regalia-making classes with me too but I'm going into pow wow dancing classes alone.

My question here... how do I calm my nerves and what should I expect? I do struggle with identity issues as I'm...

...who dance in Regalia or want to.

There are many threads here at powwows.com about non-Native people who are wanting to dance or have regalia, or who do this already. There are 2 currant threads on this issue.

                                  The common theme...
