    ok... gotta jump in here.

One thing you all are forgetting here is that where he dances whites are more a part of the dances. I'm not saying it is right. What I am saying is you have some "Uncle Tom~a~Hawks" that know which side their frybread is sugared on. So yeah.. those dances the white dancers are not only excepted but encouraged to dance. And also to lay down on the blanket dances.. volunteer..and "you want nice outfit.. my wife/aunt/sister/cousin can fix ya up but it will cost ya... OH.. money is no object... Cool!" You wanna start a powwow.. great! I know a drum but it will cost ya to get em here.. Oh and you'll need mc's.. arena director.. yada yada yada.. you know drill.

What he is talking about is NOT traditional powwows, but inter-tribals.

No I do not know this guy... I don't know the exact powwows he goes too. I know the area some, what I know is the same old story... greed vs _________ you fill in the blank. Don't make a damn bit of difference what I put there... just my opinion.

Oh... and if everyone agrees... how bout I split this into two threads. Keep the one on women dancers in regalia... and move this to native issues as the white dancers war.... Part 1001

You see, people. This is a prime example of what I meant when I said.."the most ultimate respect white people can give us, is to leave all of our ways and traditions ALONE". They got no business puttin their nose all up in our ways.

I thought I was going to get hauled away to pws.com jail! :p

Go ahead, split it into two. I'll just move over there if he wants to argue with me some more. :)

You might be tired of hearing this argument over and over, but it still needs to be said cuz there are still wannabees out there like C Rock that think that what they are doing is fine with all Natives. So as long as they keep popping up and running their mouths at the rest of us native people then we will have to continue to tell them that what they are doing isn't accepted by ALL of us or most of us.

I never said that... did I say that??? NO!!! 1001 was a remark about how many times this has been discussed and it never comes to any resolution or results in any change. I imagine it will go on until I'm dead and buried too.

So.. how bout cutting the crap and don't put words in my mouth.. K?? :)

I phrased it like that because I have read similar comments from you in other threads. Sounds like you get tired of hearing the same argument over and over. No crap here! :)

See you once again say I am tired of hearing the same thing over and over. It is not the hearing something over and over that makes me tired.

What I am tired of is something being discussed to death and nothing changes.. people don't get the point.. attitudes still stay the same. No new input. No resolution.

Oh... and glad to see you pay attention to my posts! ;) :)

                                  Hello,

I do this topic to show you who I really am.
Lots of people here don’t know me, that’s why they don’t understand me, so after having ridden these few lines, you can judge me rightly.

Who I am : My name is Valerie, I’m 30 years old, I’m married and...

So I finally convinced my mom to let me learn the culture. She is even going to take some regalia-making classes with me too but I'm going into pow wow dancing classes alone.

My question here... how do I calm my nerves and what should I expect? I do struggle with identity issues as I'm...

...who dance in Regalia or want to.

There are many threads here at powwows.com about non-Native people who are wanting to dance or have regalia, or who do this already. There are 2 currant threads on this issue.

                                  The common theme...

I am currently a junior in college in Tennessee. Not being from The South (born and raised in Wisconsin) I am wondering if the feelings of alienation and discrimination that I am experiencing in school are common to all ndns in college or is a purely a Southern thing. I have learned that something...
