undefinedundefinedOkay.....will all this blood quantum stuff in question and after reading all the posts.....leaves me with one question.....
I donate blood, can a person who gets my PURE NAVAJO BLOOD actually claim they are NAVAJO now? AYEEEEEE.......J?K.
NOW FOR SALE......... NAVAJO BLOOD .....49.95 not including shipping charges. You too, can claim to be NAVAJO. Ever wanted to have mutton cravings? A Greasy face? Chizzy knees? Long flowing Hair so you can flip it? Now you can HAVE it ALL!!!!! Just for 49.95. FULL NAVAJO BLOOD INJECTION complete with certified CIB card.
Awwwwww heck.....beats trading in my food stamps and selling commod cheese sandwiches on da corner. HAHAHA
Sorry, back to reality....Hooray, for the council actually making a sound decision. However, knowing the tribe and its elders, most of the elders would vote against it, even if it was up to the people. And if you were a true NAVAJO then you would know to listen to your elders in the first place. So if shi'cheii and shimasani said to vote against the issue, I would out of respect of their teachings and beliefs. Its bout preservation of a tribe. We have enough of our own people and we can barely take care of what we have. So to take on another couple 1,000 of people would actually make it worse. Even though we would be eligible for more federal dollars, but right now we don't even know where the current federal dollars are being dispursed. So its like giving more candy to the council.
But its like what others have said, we have to teach our children our traditional teachings in order to keep our culture alive. And being INDIAN is not about whether we have a CIB number or not, we were BORN NATIVE and no one is gonna take that away from us. Just be proud of who you are and what you stand forYou have crossed my path, You will never be forgotten......
