For anyone that has made the trip to Cherokee NC and went to the outdoor show Unto These Hills, I just wanted to update the drama.
The whole play has been re-wrote. The cast is all Cherokee and the Regaila is true to the times.
Unlike the drama of the past this is worth seeing.
The play starts with the creation of the world to the removal and life after the removal.
I was most impressed with the traditional Cherokee music and dance. Something you dont hear or see too often. You also see dances such as bear dance and booger dance.
I ran accross a group of around 100 cherokee youths from the Cherokee Nation in OKC and was able to talk with one of the guides. He told me that so many of these youth had no idea on what life was like for the cherokee in the 1700 & 1800s. And that they visited all the historical places in Georgia and Tenn and NC.
If you are Cherokee and have never been to the Mountains of NC the Homeland of the Cherokee you should look into making a trip sometime. Its always good to come home.
