Yeah I saw this on CBC website - good on Phil for helping out. I'm not sure if I could do that - get my hair cut in a media frenzy I mean. I considered the Locks for Love thing but now I have too much grey hair - no lil kid will want a wig like that! LOL
Oh and can we get the word out - it's a BRAID not a ponytail!
And MOtS - I think he's hamsome too! LOL

Attention News Editors:
Redken Canada helps cut out child poverty and suffering one snip at a time
First Nations Chief Phil Fontaine cuts off ponytail to kick-off Canada's
biggest charity cut-a-thon
TORONTO, May 28 /CNW/ - Redken Canada and ONE X ONE today announced that
proceeds from every haircut, in-salon service, individual donation and a
portion of proceeds from product sold at Redken's 200 participating salons
across Canada on Sunday, June 3 will be donated to ONE X ONE, a non-profit
foundation committed to supporting, preserving and improving the life of
children in Canada and around the world.
"ONE X ONE is about celebrating and cherishing every child's life," says
Joelle Berdugo Adler, founder of ONE X ONE. "ONE X ONE has raised more than
4 million dollars for children's charities since 2005. With Redken's help we
are aiming to make our 2007 campaign the most successful ever."
Phil Fontaine, National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations is one of
many public figures committed to this cause and to raising awareness for
Canada's largest Cut-A-Thon. National Chief Fontaine launched this national
initiative today by getting his impressive ponytail cut off at FADS Salon and
Spa in Ottawa, Ontario.
"Each person can make a difference in the life of a child who is faced
with poverty," says Phil Fontaine. "I'm cutting off my hair to draw attention
to this important cause and to encourage Canadians to book an appointment at
their local salon on June 3 to cut their hair and buy product to help raise
proceeds for this vital charity."
Canadians coast-to-coast can participate in this major national event by
booking an appointment at their local Redken salon (visit www.redken.ca for
locations). Local celebrities, ONE X ONE ambassadors and Redken executives
will also get their haircut on Sunday, June 3.
"We are encouraging people to better the lives of children. By providing
an opportunity to go beyond the standard haircut, Redken's Cut-A-Thon is
enabling Canadians to make a difference," says Doraine Dalati, vice president
and general manager, Redken Canada.
ONE X ONE supports initiatives including H20 Africa, Yele Haiti, Free the
Children and Make Poverty History. ONE X ONE continues to partner with DATA
(Debt, AIDS, Trade, Africa), the organization founded by U2 singer Bono that
aims to raise awareness about unpayable debts, uncontrolled spread of AIDS and
unfair trade rules in Africa. DATA has matched funds raised for Make Poverty
History.
