  • Three Affiliated Tribes honor soldier slain year ago

    Bismarck, North Dakota (AP)

While North Dakota soldiers once again serve overseas this holiday season, the Three Affiliated Tribes held a three-day powwow to honor the memory of a Mandaree soldier killed in Afghanistan last year on Thanksgiving Day.

Cpl. Nathan Goodiron, a member of the North Dakota National Guard’s 188th Air Defense Artillery 1st Battalion, was killed when a rocket-propelled grenade hit his vehicle while he was on patrol.
