  • N.D. mother pleads guilty to letting newborn die, discarding body in suitcase

    By James MacPherson
    Bismarck, North Dakota (AP)

Dana Deegan hid her pregnancy from her family, including the father of her three children, for nine months. Then she gave birth to a healthy boy, fed him, dressed him, wrapped him in a blanket and left him to die.

Deegan, 34, of White Shield, admitted during December that she left the child alone for two weeks immediately after he was born, then put his body in a suitcase and left it in a ditch on the Fort Berthold Reservation.

It amazes and angers me when people do this to babies and other children. There are other acceptable ways to give up the child rather than neglecting and abandoning them. This is really sad.

Folks, if you don't want your child, I'll take 'em. I'm sure my daughter would like the company of another brother or sister.

Child murdered-- warning advised before reading
          by Blackbear
This is a very hard article to swallow. It is shocking and horrible and hard to fathom that anyone could do this to a child. I warn that this will depress and anger you so know this before reading it and if you don't want to feel either of these emotions at this time, then just turn back now.

I think he needs to stay in school...
