A serious division in tribal government continues at the Hopi tribal offices. Soon after Hopi Tribal Chairman Benjamin Nuvamsa’s press conference in Flagstaff charging Vice Chairman Todd Honyouma Sr. and the tribal council with misuse of funds, Honyouma responded with identical charges against Nuvamsa.
According to Nuvamsa, Honyouma and the Hopi Tribal Council misappropriated funds by hiring an attorney to represent the vice chairman in his legal defense in Benjamin H. Nuvamsa v. Todd Honyaoma Sr. et al, with an initial installment paid to attorney Erin Byrnes.
According to a statement issued by the Office of the Vice Chairman, Nuvamsa’s own financial dealings are under question.
