  • Mural brings healing energy to a community

Story and photos by S.J. Wilson
    Flagstaff, Arizona (NFIC)

In a community treasured for its diversity, racial and religious tension surrounds a sacred site issue as the Ninth District Court prepares to issue a decision on whether reclaimed water can be used to produce snow on the San Francisco Peaks. Owners of the Arizona Snowbowl ski resort appealed a decision earlier in the year that forbade snowmaking, a significant ruling in support of Native American religious freedom and of the concerns held by many environmental groups that the reclaimed water posed a danger to human and environmental health.
