  • Judge won’t force search of police computers in smoke shop case

    Providence, Rhode Island (AP)

The state won’t have to hire a computer expert to search computers for deleted e-mails related to a 2003 state police raid on a Narragansett Indian Tribe smoke shop.

The dispute is part of a broader legal fight between prosecutors and defense lawyers over evidence sharing leading up to the trial of seven tribe members arrested during the raid for allegedly scuffling with police.
