  • Opponents file suit over state approval of mine

    Traverse City, Michigan (AP)

    Foes of a proposed nickel and copper mine in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula have filed another legal challenge.

    Opponents sued the Michigan Department of Natural Resources on recently. The DNR approved Kennecott Minerals Co.’s plans during February and agreed to lease 120 acres of state land for the mine’s surface facilities.
