State Treasurer Scott Meacham is calling on the Creek Nation to halt the sale of “illegal” cigarettes at numerous Creek-affiliated stores in the Tulsa area, according to a published report.
Meacham said the cigarettes are contraband because they are not on the state’s list of approved cigarettes and thus do not bear a state tax stamp.
