  • Lac du Flambeau Chippewa elect new leader

    Lac Du Flambeau, Wisconsin (AP)

A northern Wisconsin Chippewa tribe troubled by political corruption and financial turmoil has elected a new leader.

Carl W. Edwards is the new president of the Lac Du Flambeau Tribe. He defeated incumbent Victoria Doud the October 7, general election. The tribe says Edwards had 296 votes, and write-in candidate Betty Jo Graveen had 280. Doud finished third with 220.
