The South Dakota Supreme Court on Oct. 9, upheld the drug conviction of a man who argued he had valid prescription for the drug.
The prosecution presented enough evidence to convict Zachariah Palmer Ryan of possession of a controlled substance, the high court said in a unanimous ruling. The justices also upheld the trial judge’s finding that the state had nonracial reasons for removing some Native Americans from the pool of potential jurors.
