Navajo lawmakers have rejected an effort to have medals awarded to tribal veterans, saying there are more pressing needs on the reservation.
The Tribal Council voted 62-20 against the measure Oct. 21.
A spokesman for Council Speaker Lawrence Morgan, who sponsored the bill, says Morgan likely won’t resurrect the measure.
