The Menominee Nation is asking the Bureau of Indian Affairs to postpone a ruling on a potential off-reservation casino until President Bush is out of office.
In a letter dated Oct. 22, Tribal Chairman Lisa Waukau said the tribe fears a “hasty” decision by Interior Department Secretary Dirk Kempthorne based on political pressure. She asks that the decision be left to the next presidential administration.
