An Ohio historian faces trial on Aug. 3 on charges that he headed a dive team to remove an 8-ton boulder known as Indian Head Rock from the depths of the Ohio River.
Steven R. Shaffer, 51, of Ironton, Ohio, is charged with removing a protected archaeological object. No trial date has been set for a co-defendant, David G. Vetter, 54, of Portsmouth, Ohio.
