Wichita, Kansas (AP)
A federal judge rules that the Kaweah Indian Nation must forfeit more than $377,000 in a scheme to defraud immigrants.
U.S. District Judge Wesley Brown on during late October issued a preliminary order of forfeiture.
Prosecutors say that Malcolm Webber, the tribe’s self-proclaimed grand chief, agreed to the forfeiture in exchange for the government’s agreement not to seek a personal money judgment or seek forfeiture of assets not seized.
