The 13 homicides in Fremont County last year are the most in the county since 1888, county Coroner Ed McAuslan says.
The county’s homicide rate for 2008 is 5.8 times the national average, according to an annual report by McAuslan. He based the figure on the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 2005 national statistic of 6.1 homicides per 100,000 people.
