  • Program about dying Indian languages recognized

    Norman, Oklahoma (AP)

The state Education Department is honoring a group of Norman High School students for their documentary about dying languages of American Indian tribes.

The program “When It’s Gone, It’s Gone” by 13 students in the school’s Native America Club is also now being used in classrooms as a teaching tool.

    Bump.
I'm not responsible for my actions, I just do what the voices tell me to do.

      Keep Our Languages Alive!

It's true. Native American Indian languages are going into extinction. Pieces of them die every day. I'd like to encourage each and everyone of you to make an effort to learn those languages. Learn the language your ancestors were forbidden to speak. English, French, Spanish, etc. etc. etc. are not going out of extinction any time soon. They are in no danger. But our Native languages must be spoken as much as possible. School, work, home, going shopping.
      Let's not lose any more.

        You're right.
Knowing one's herritage is very important.
The English language got its name because it was orrigionally spoken only by the people of England.
The people of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales used to speak what outsiders called "Gaelic" before being invaded and conqored by England.
I have no one to teach me Gaelic, so I have bought some books and CDs to teach myself it.
I'm not responsible for my actions, I just do what the voices tell me to do.
