Gov. David Paterson says he wants to talk to Seneca leaders, who have threatened to charge tolls on the New York State Thruway where it runs through reservation land in western New York.
Seneca President Barry Snyder announced recently that – in response to the state’s plans to begin collecting excise tax on cigarettes sold at Indian-owned stores – the tribal council will devise a way to collect $2 per vehicle tolls.
