State officials are examining the details of a lawsuit filed by two Pine Ridge women who claim they were illegally removed from the voting rolls last year, Secretary of State Chris Nelson says.
Kim Colhoff and Eileen Janis say they were improperly removed because they had felony convictions. According to the American Civil Liberties Union, which is backing the case, state law takes away voting rights from people sentenced to prison but that Colhoff and Janis were only sentenced to probation.
