A fire began burning on the eastbound side of Route 37 in January. Gradually trees were felled to bulldoze a road through the dense woods. The logs were stacked and added to the fire through the night and day.
The Hiawatha flag was hung. The red warrior’s flag with its yellow sun and silhouetted profile was put up. By the roadside a “For Sale” sign advertising 230 acres was covered by a sign reading “Reclamation Site.”
