Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (AP)
A joint resolution proposing a statewide vote on making English the official language of Oklahoma has cleared a Senate Committee over objections it is unneeded and mean-spirited.
The vote was 9-6 April 1 for the constitutional amendment, introduced in the House by Rep. Randy Terrill, R-Moore, the principal sponsor of an anti-illegal immigration bill that is being challenged in federal court.
