Erosion and a buildup of silt are hurting water quality, recreation, hydropower generation, flood control and nearly every other beneficial use of the Missouri River in South Dakota, members of a new task force said April 2.
The Missouri River Task Force for South Dakota held its first meeting to begin work on plans for protecting the river from erosion and the sediment that flows in from tributary rivers and streams.
