Mukilteo, Washington (AP)
An environmental study has found evidence that people were clamming at least a thousand years ago at a waterfront site in Mukilteo.
The Herald of Everett reports the study found cultural artifacts that may be eligible for national historic listing, including remnants of a former Japanese immigrant community employed at an old mill there in the early 1900s. The site later became a fuel depot for the Air Force.
