The former leader of a Massachusetts tribe traced back to the country’s first Thanksgiving was sentenced May 7 to nearly three-and-a-half years in prison for embezzling tribal funds and violating campaign laws while working with convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
Glenn Marshall, who once chaired the Cape Cod-based Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, was sentenced to the 41 months recommended by prosecutors after Marshall pleaded guilty three months ago to several charges.
