Considering the play “Time Immemorial” was commissioned to mark Alaska’s 50th anniversary, it may seem strange that the state’s beginning almost didn’t get a scene. It becomes more understandable given the subject matter – 10,000 years of the Alaska experience from the Native perspective.
“Statehood is just a tiny blip in Alaska Native history,” said Jack Dalton, a Yup’ik actor and author from Hooper Bay who co-wrote and co-starred in the production with Inupiat performance artist Allison Warden.
