Authorities in Yamhill County, Ore., say the county’s interagency narcotics team has seized more than 12,000 illegal poppy plants from a grow site in a rural area of the county.
The poppy plant is used to make heroin and opium. The plants were growing in multiple plots and some were as tall as 4 feet. The estimated street value of the opium contained in the plants was approximately $45,000.
