Authorities have arrested two dozen people in an effort to curb violent crime on the eastern side of the Navajo Nation.

The misdemeanor and felony charges included drunken driving, child abuse and aggravated battery.

The Navajo Nation’s public safety department received a federal grant in October as part of a pilot project to target gun, gang and domestic violence in Prewitt, Thoreau and Crownpoint.
