A former vice president of the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe has been sentenced to 40 months in prison for his part in a construction contract bribery case on the reservation.
Fifty-three-year-old Randy Shields of Fort Thompson was accused of taking bribes from a construction contractor who wanted to get contracts and other business from the tribe.
Two other tribal officials and the contractor pleaded guilty to federal charges.
