Four South Dakota counties have been declared federal disaster areas in the wake of flash flooding along the Big Sioux River.
The Yankton Press & Dakotan reports that President Barack Obama signed the declaration last week, making federal funding available for repair work in Brookings, Lake, Moody and Union counties and for the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe.
