  • anybody tried Alli diet drug?

I was just wondering if there were any eaters in this room that have tried the Alli drug. Out of curiosity I popped onto their website and boards. If you are on a diet moderate in fat, this pill will block 25% of the fat from being absorbed. Personally, I think this would just throw me off. I do alot of tasting as I'm cooking.

They had a special on it on the Today Show. When Matt said that they recommended you take an extra pair of pants to work, that pretty much killed it for me!

It blocks the absorption of fat by your body, so guess where it all goes? And you know how your body reacts to certain foods, like BEANS or BROCCOLI? Imagine that reaction accompanied by an "oily discharge".....just put that visual in your head and let it swim around for a while!!! Plus, if you eat a little more than 15 grams of fat at a time, which is soo easy to do as a Frybread lovin native, you can get some serious cramping and bloating. So, you can either be a cute Chepa(chubby) Native, or a gassy, bloated, "oily" pants, stink Native....take your choice!!!

After reading everything here... it doesn't sound like you need to commit to alli... you need to be *committed* :-P

Thankfully Miika likes that I'm in good shape.

Hey! ROUND is a shape *laffs*

I checked out the Alli website. This pill does not sound worth the time. Kinda icky and uncomfortable if you eat more than 13 grams of fat.

Well, a friend of mine found out the hard way. If you decide to take this drug, definitely keep extra panties in your pocket book. Scary.

That's true, we got similar pills over here.
First of all: They can only work when you are eating way too much fat. You don't eat much fat? Then it cannot 'absorb' it. But in case there is enough of fatty junk food in your 'diet', you will get rid of it in a way you will not like at all ;-) You will not have any control about your 'output'.
Just don't eat much fat, sugar, eat and exercise more often and regularly, maybe 1400 kcal are enough for you...check it, I don't know you, if you go lower with your calories you will need a 'motivation' day now and then to keep your metabolism up. Do not allow yourself candy and stuff every day, it works much better to strictly eat and drink healthy food up to your need of calories, exercise and once a week have a break of all this diet and sports ...and drink enough to let the liver do her fat-burning job instead of helping your kidneys do their job- because when you don't drink enough (water), they cannot dis poison (right word?) your body because of the lack of transportation fluids. Then your liver has to 'save your life' instead of 'burn your fat'. Easy, just start.

                          Hey all.

Looks like it's getting such a bad review. I thought I would share my friend's experience. She says you only get the side effects if you eat meals heavy in fat. Which I guess the whole point is not to do. And what fat she does eat gets blocked. She has lost quite a bit of weight and has no complaints. She has not had to change her panties either. I really think that if you change the way you are eating you will lose weight. The Alli pill just gives you that extra boost. Just playing devil's advocate here. It works for her and she has not had any accidents. As with any diet medication, different people will have different experiences with it. And I think that the commercial says you have to commit to it b/c if you don't change your eating pattern behavior, taking the drug will be uncomfortable and unbearable. But if you do everything you are supposed to do, the drug only enhances that effort.

I saw her recently at a wedding with a halter dress on and she looked amazing. She would have never worn that dress before. So don't knock it quite yet.
