theres no recipe here but its food related.

i dont know if other tribes have rules that you follow when preparing or eating food.

for instance, you cant eat with a knife or even serve with a knife because its said to cause sharp pains. haha i tried it once putting meat in my mouth with a knife and bamm first shot. yee yah! i tried to serve cake with the knife i just cut the cake with. haha man i got some weird looks.. i almost had to start over so that didnt last.

even cutting a cake has a rule. you have to cut it down the middle from east to west.. yes its true, annd then cut it from south to north. there you go a cake cutting rule!

this goes out to wyo rose and her chili. its said if you start sweating and get all hott eating chili.. haha it means that youre sooo jealous..!! haha, yeah thers alot of teasing going on when somebody doesnt know and everybody else knows. especially if that persons all sweaty. lol lots of snickering and smiles going on. like danng somebodys all jealous!!

and if you feed your dog while eating. its said the only the dog will get full and youll stay hungry.

theres alot of stuff, but food is such a big part of us and our culture that maybbe there has to be rules. so whats some of yers??
thanks dad for showing me the way, teaching me the language, and not leaving my mother...*L*

I guess that's why I can handle the hot stuff - I don't have a jealous bone in my body.

The knife is a big deal up here too. At least with the Arapaho tribe, you don't cook with a knife or even have it on the stove, or eat with it. It's interesting that us Shoshones call knife - wee - which is similar to what we call Navajos too.

Once I had to tell a divo (white) lady from IHS at the Health Fair that nobody was coming to try her food samples because she was cooking with a knife.

Shoshone names for some other tribes and some tribal clans are all based on what they eat.

Throwing food is a BIG NO-NO! I'll have to think of more while I'm eating lunch.

(No red meat for a woman on that time of the month.)
    ...it is what it is...
