This delicious Choctaw Recipe is sort of like making Tamales.
But there's no meat inside. Hope you like it.
1 pound of dry black - eyed peas
5 cups of plain corn meal
Corn husks
warm water (to moisten)
Soak the Peas overnight. Then drain and cook them until tender.
Use a little warm water to moisten the corn meal. Mix the corn meal and cooked peas together.
Next, roll the mixture into balls (about medium size) Flatten the balls and place them in the corn husks. Fold over tightly. (can tie with a string)
Cook in boiling water for about 40 minutes or until dough isn't gooey.
