"Osage Nation Slates February4, 2005 For Celebration"
In Pawhuska, Ok. this Friday the Osage Tribe are going to celebrate legislation passing a bill that allows the tribe to set its own tribal membership criteria and add as many as 10,000 new members to its voting rolls.
Principal Chief Jim Gray commented, "This will be a historic and monumental event that will be cause for one of our most commemorative celebration and observances in tribal history."
The Osage Tribal Council is extending an open invitation to all tribal members and friends of the Osage Nation to come and participate in this significant occasion.
The Sovereignty/Incependence Celebration will be held on the Osage Tribal Campus. Starting at 10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon; Invocation, Flag Song, Prayer, and Victory Song. Introductions, Catered Meal served from 12:00-3:00 PM. A Celebration Dance will take place at 3:00-5:00 PM. Honor Songs for All Osages followed by a Fireworks Displaywa-zha-zhe

Thanks for the update Wa-zha-zhe. I was over in Pawhuska not to long ago, and went to this crazy little store over there called Bison Bison. It sure is a pretty area of the state over there.
I am real happy for you Osages. The fight for determining your own membership was a long one. I am glad to see that fairness won out over greed and control. Looks to me like you all have some good leadership going.

And you're right about the fight that was fought for determining membership. We have a good Chief in Jim Gray. He is young and has the tribes best interest at heart. Not like all the past Chief's, who were really passive. Satisfied with the way the whiteman instituted things to be around here, when he put the Osage here to die.
