My Dad was adopted as an infant from a choctaw family, My mom is 1/2 ndn & 1/2 german *yikes* anyway we did not know who my father's parents were until "92" when the death of his adoptive parents allowed him to open adoption records. What does this mean that my son and I are? No joking, just want to know.

First of all your goining to need to know
1. Your fathers blood quantum of Choctaw and his other races.
2. Divide that in half right away.
3. Divide your mothers blood quantum in half also.

Add these two numbers. It will give you a rough idea of how much Native you really are.
You will need at least 1/16th blood quantum of a single Tribe to enroll in that Tribes registry.
Our Tribe is 1/4 blood of our Tribes.
Check you Tribe for the correct blood quantum needed.

Now by adding them together I get 3/4? If that is right and my son's father has no native blood, what does that mean my son is? 1/3? 1/8th?

are you parents the same tribe? otherwise it could mean your son is 1/4 or an 1/8. but if they are the same then your son could be half of 3/8 sooo whatever that number is? (Can someone hand me a calculator?)

If you count all Native blood quantum your children would be at least 1/3 Native. This blood quantum number is taking for granted your figures are right about your parents. This will only be proven through Tribal Enrollment records. And the Tribal Enrollment Officers will determine what your offical blood quantum is.
If the Tribe you want to be enrolled with is anything like mine is. You will need to a certian amount of that Tribes blood quantum requirements to be enrolled with them. They will not care what your Total blood quantum is. They are only interested in their Tribal blood. For enrollment purposes.

We have my father's birth records and he is 100% Choctaw. My mother is 1/2 Penobscot out of Maine. My father died shortly after finding out, from cancer, and my sister and I are trying to find out how and who to enroll with. We want to follow under my father and enroll Choctaw. If you are already enrolled with another tribe the only way that you can get enrolled with the Comanches is if you have NEVER received any kind of monetary benefits from that tribe. I think that is the way with most tribes.

I wish that we were getting a percap but there are too many of us for that to happen. Anyway it is better for all tribal members that the money is reinvested into the tribe for expansions and jobs.
