lizard,
Lounge Lizard, is this you?
I thought I was the only one that did that! *LOL

Wahzahsz,
Keep your good memories. The Old Expo ain't what it used to be and neither is the 49. Remember when they used to have it behind the grandstand and there were thousands of people??
Well, I went to the Expo 49 two years ago on a country road south of Apache Y.
There were over a thousand people.... 98% were under the age of 18!!!!!
They tried to sing in the rain on a band drum using wooden band drum sticks!!!!
Yup, it's best to keep them good memories!Powwows will continue to evolve in many directions. It is inevitable.

Wazhasz,
Heck no! Even the 21 year olds felt old there!
True story...
One of the most memorable 49's I've ever been to was on a Sunday night after a big powwow in Shawnee, Oklahoma. There were only 6 of us. Three girls and three guys. We all brought recorders and sang to our hearts content til' daylight!
__
For all you OKIES...
During Friday and Saturday night of Red Earth, there will be a "Pre 49 - 49" at True Loves in Oklahoma City! (disclaimer: This is not connected to R. Earth in any way, shape or form!) *L
I have several singers committed to be there. All of the singers I invited can start 49's and keep it goin', so the singin' will be "primo."
We start singing at midnight after the Indian band finishes their last set!
Then it's off to the real 49!!!!Powwows will continue to evolve in many directions. It is inevitable.

I haven't nined in so long all my shoes are clean. weee maybe this summer I'll make a comeback as a married niner. I miss the singin, you know, the goot nines where people are actually there to do that and just have a goot time. not be all ruggit and trying to start fights and be um....scandalous. chyna.
Well I hope everyone has a great weekend. there's a dance up here hosted by Ponca Post 38. So if you're around Ponca go check it out.
And Stars Wars: Return of the Sith is out. And dammit...it's HOT out so hit the lakes this weekend too. Get real dark and have a beer for me!!! *L*
Keep it mussy at all times.
See ya!!!!
Mussy by birth.....Native by the Grace of God.......

Nativemah, I need to make a correction on the dates of the "Osage Dances".
They are GRAYHORSE: June 2 - 5, HOMINY: June 16 -19, PAWHUSKA: June 23 -26.
Originally, I had posted that they were the first three week-ends in June. That information was wrong. There's nothing the second week-end in June. I apologize for any inconvience.(dang...shame) I sit right beside Angela S. this morning at the Pawhuska War Dance Committee breakfast and she told me that she was going to "Black Leggings Ceremonial" today. And, I was telling her about you. So, when you see her, you might let her know, you are Nativemah on PowWows.com.Last edited by wa-zha-zhe; 05-21-2005, 11:44 AM.wa-zha-zhe

I have hand picked some "home boyz" who I have diligently spent many hours with on old country roads and fields. *L Mostly Kiowas and Poncas. It will be packed! The band that precedes us is called OIT (Old Indian Trick) *L
Did you know True Loves was voted the 2nd best place in Oklahoma to "snag?" First place was at powwows. This poll was a couple of year's back in Native American Times newspaper.
Hmmmmmm*Powwows will continue to evolve in many directions. It is inevitable.
