                  I Remember when:

                  Music~The Motown Sound!
                  American Bandstand
                  Shin-Dig
Musical Artists: The Supremes, Martha Ray & the Vandells
Smokey Robinson, The Temptin' Temptations, The Four Tops
Bobby Darin, and Bobby Rydell, Brenda Lee.

I remember Chatty Cathy, although I was'nt allowed to have one. lol

                  Component Sets w/Tape Deck(s).

Movies like: Shaft, and Black Expoitation Films. White actors playing Ndn parts, and seeing Buck & the Preacher for 1st time, and rooting for the horses(my favorite always) and for once 2 black and some Ndns, that actually won the Day!

Events: Watching women enter into mainstream workforce. My 1st Female Policeofficer, Bus Driver, moving to the front of the bus, and feeling so proud! Seeing Blacks/Real Ndns on TV, in major roles. Being All So Proud!!

Hey, Summerwaters great taste in music! but since i came up around Detroit..I have to say it's Martha Reeves and the vandellas...I was a MAJOR Motown music nut (hell I still am!) so don't mean to sound as though I know everything...but couldn't resist correcting you..
As far as movies, and the NDNs being white..I always like the old movie Billy Jack..though he was a white guy...was one of the firts martial arts movies...
Am I the only one or have you ever been saddened by the fact that the Cavalry/settlers/etc...always win? And the natives were seen (then) as one dimensional arrow-throwers...aaaah good old Hollywierd! Actually, the mainstream movies have only really improved marginally...I mean look at dancin W/ Wolves..where good ole Kevin is the 'superhero' Why aren't Tecumseh/Little turtle/Red Cloud/Sitting Bull/Crazy Horse/Blackhawk/Joseph (and countless others) etc...ever seen as the truly great men, and leaders that they really were?

                          Anybody remember 'roller derby'?

Hey, I remember most of that stuff!

I remember playing 45's on the record player, being all excited when Dad brought home an 8 track player and tapes, putting peanuts in our pepsi, buying penny candy that actually cost a penny, Twiggy, mini skirts, "hippies", watching "The wonderful world of Disney". I too saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. I remember people smoking (cigarettes) at the movies.
Going to town on Thursday nites with our Grandpa and Grandma to buy groceries and getting to stop at the local drive in and eat hamburgers and chocolate shakes!
Now I'm all lonesome, gonna go call my Momma!
