My first name "Chebon"

when I was born, my parents decided to give me the name Chebon. I was named after the artist Chebon Dacon. While I love the name, it has had its share of adventures. When I anwser the phone, and say my name, they will say gerome, or Mike, or something else off the wall that doesn't even come close to my first name. Does this happen to anyone else????

I love your name i think it is original. I love names that are different and unique and if people cant have the repsect to at least try to say it correctly than thats thier prob. I get it once in awhile too and my name isnt even that diff. Janelle.. now whats so hard bout that ? its not chenel or channel or Jenel or Genuill.. LOL... but ill tell ya this hubby was able to spell my name right on his first try and thats how he got me!! LOL Anyhoo... cool name and ferget what others say just be proud! :)

I used to be so irritated when people mispronounced my name. :Chatter When I was in college, the instructors would call out my name all ugly. :tongue11: LOL! Now I don't care, I just tell people the correct pronunciation right away. :D Funny thing… the friends I've made online pronounced it wrong when I first met them. :rofl2: Some of them still do because I haven’t bothered to correct them. :rofl2:

Happens to me all the time. Expecially in school at the beginning of the year when they teacher is calling names and matching them with faces.....

My legal first name is a Navajo name. A lot of people try to pronounce it, sometimes over and over. I usually just say, close enough and tell them my nickname. LOL

I love my name. It was my ma'sonii's name. (maternal grandmother)

Many people mispronounce my last name here... :Mad.. my last name is actually an original :man: its not one of the norms like begay/chee/yazzie..etc within the navajo tribe! It was actually my great great grandfathers name but when the govt was going around doing their thing with giving out names, they made it my fathers last name and gave it a more MODERN pronunciation but yeah.. its suppose to be pronounced in navajo and it is my great great grandfathers name :D...and I will NEVER replace my last name .....

The only bad thing about the name is when someone yells Chebon, and they are upset because you know that the only person they could be talking about is you. It is not like when someone says Aaron, or Mike where 5 different people in one area may have that name!!!!!!

My chihuahua's name is Chebon. B/C we knew it was boy in Creek. One time my aunt told him to go back to his Creek people b/c he was acting up, dang if the next day he ran off and we didn't find him til three days later in doggy jail. (Humane Society up the road) I told her not to ever talk to my dog like that again. Then when I married my husband he was cracking up that our dog was named Chebon b/c his nephew had the same name. *L* That just sounded keener than boy in Kanza. :)

Naw, I got a nice last name, original, and I know my family is the only one with that last name.....unless you count that bunch of A-holes from Ganado, AZ who have it too, but, are TOTALLY not related to us.
