The stone........after the throw. The word........after it's said.
The occasion...........after it's missed. The time.........after it's gone.
Y'all need to come down here to Texas. It's still getting into the 80's during the day, with just a SLIGHT chill in the air at night and early morning. You can still wear your shorts though.
I am a winter-time girl myself though. So I can't wait for the cold weather. You have to understand though, we don't often get any snow down here. Maybe once or twice a year we get snow/ice mix that might measure a couple of inches. I've been told that's why I can enjoy the winter so much, but I think some more snow would be GREAT! :D
*packing up to go visit Traci* OK, I'll have to go check it out. We're sitting here freezing in our office cuz if we turn on the heater, we'll have to turn on the AC in the afternoon.
I guess we're like the desert here, cold nights - hot days. But not anywhere near 80!!:p
Oh yeah, I've been up to the N. Cheyenne Rez a couple times Traci. Not real familiar with it tho. Dangerous narrow roads, colder than us, little bitty store at Lame Deer. (at least the last time I was there)
Yes, come down and visit. But ONLY if I can come and visit you in the summer when it's getting 110 here. YUCK!
I live about 8 hours from Houston. I live about an hour and a half from the Texas/Oklahoma boarder.
I was asking about the reservation because I'm getting gifts together for the Christmas Stocking Project, but I don't want to get things that are silly or not appropriate. And I don't know anything about the conditions on that rez. Is it pretty basic or nice? I don't know. I'll ask Gache--he's Cheyenne and says some of his family is up there. Duh--didn't think of that until now.
Most northern rez's aren't that "nice" at all.... and coats and hats and scarfs, gloves are always needed. Lame Deer is purty "remote". An if you know of anyone else that wants to do the same thing we're always needing coats at Cheyenne River too. Other than that - good morning everyone, I wanna crawl up in my coffee cup too Eyes :Chatter *sits sacks of groceries down* Can someone help me with the pies? I made four pumpkin and some hot apple and cinnamon, two pecan and a cherry and a bluberry..... *shakes* I have a chill........ need Moose to get some firewood pretty soon.......
Mornin' Luta! I'll have 1/2 a pumpkin pie with loads of whipped cream, please. Are you sighing cuz you spent all night on the phone?;)
Traci, what's the Christmas Stocking Program exactly? Do you stuff stockings and send them up? That sounds like a great idea. One Christmas when I was feeling cashy I wrapped some presents for my mom to take around on her home visits as a nurse. A little warm fuzziness there.:p
And yeah, that rez isn't very 'nice'. ANYTHING you would donate would be appreciated.
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has info on recipes for beef soup and frybread to feed 200-300 people at an outdoor powwow? My step-father passed and we would like to honor him with a feed but have never done this before. I would appreciate suggestions on recipes, ingredients, cooking times, equipment...
If you were forces to live on a small Iceland, big enough to do a powwow dance, alone, what would you bring with you?
There are off course fresh water and enough fruits to survive on your Iceland.
And it's hot enough to not fresh at night.
BUT no electricity, so sorry, you would...
PowWows.com is excited to open another new feature of the site!
You now can take quizes and compete against each other in trivia contests. The categories will range from sports, music, movies, to history, and Pow Wows.
There is only 1 quiz currenlty, but try your luck...
