    • And a ginger ale for Toolbox.

      I love milk. Always have. Milk and dairy products. Raw milk's the best - the kind where ya have to skim the cream off the top! mmmmm

      My dad was lactose intolerant for years. He loved it, but it just ripped him up. Then one day in his 70's - it went away. He drinks milk with no problem now.

        • Morning folks:

          Got the espresso going for the sleepy heads - help yourself.

          Taking an extra long weekend this week (always have done this to avoid the tourist mess on the Labour Day weekend - next week).

          I finished the little mocs for the grands.
          Have a good weekend folks!

          • Nice mocs!

            About to cook up some pasta and chicken here for myself. Preparing to get slammed by a hurricane tomorrow night into Sunday morning, looks like I'll loose a day of work, grrrr.

            • Toolbox, you take care. I think Irene is going to really raise cain when she hits land. Blew by here (S.Ga. coast) today. All we got was wind-gusts to around 45mph. I was hoping for rain-this drought has to end somehow. Just don't let me see you on a rooftop waving to the rescue helos. LOL!

              • Stay safe, Toolbox! Looks scary!

                +++++++++++++++++++++

                It sprinkled here for about 15 minutes yesterday. Still no rain in sight. They're predicting highs of 108 - 109 for the next two days. Everywhere is on water restrictions, and the city keeps warning us that we might have rolling blackouts!

                    My dad was Danish and German, and he cooked a lot of German style stuff, but I've never seen Danish food before....besides a Danish! LOL

                    Hope everyone has a great Monday!

                    • Happy Monday!

                      Danish food is good! A lot of pork, potatoes and fish/seafood, sausages. And of course...wienerbrød/Danish pastry. Which is nothing like "danishes" you get here.

                      Ya can't have Danish food without: Rødgrød med Fløde/Red (berry) Porridge w/Cream!

                      Rødgrød med Fløde is a tonguetwister that no one except a native speaker of Danish can say correctly.

                      +++++++++++++++

                      One side of my Dad's family is Alsatian, so I grew up eating a lot of south German/Bavarian type food.

                      • Those berries look delicious.
                        I am incredibly sad this evening/morning. A couple of weeks ago, an Australian friend and fellow seller on ArtFire, was in a small plane crash, along with her 15 year old daughter. It was an Angel Flight. The daughter had juvenile arthritis and was being treated in Melbourne for it. It was a several hour drive from their home, and she couldn't tolerate that long in a car, so they were able to hook up with the Angel Flights. Her daughter was on her last treatment-she was in remission. Julie had posted in the forums about how they were going to celebrate with a pizza party on Tues.. The plane went down on the return trip, killing her daughter and the pilot and critically injuring Julie. She was in a coma for days, then seemed to be improving. The funeral for her daughter was yesterday. Julie passed away a few hours before the service. She and her husband have 3 other kids and a grandbaby. So, go hug the ones you love, or call them if you can't, and tell them you love them. You never know what tomorrow will bring.

                        • Well Irene swpt through, didn't loose power and my property was left unharmed save for some debris that landed in the yard from trees. The area did have flooding and power outages all over the place and traffic signals were down for some time in areas. A tree did fall on a coworker's house though, ripped the siding off his house.

                          I was kind of pissed, the hurricane ripped through at night so I really couldn't film it, but it was a good thing because that meant that is was gone by the timeI had to leave for work.

                              I've never been through a hurricane, but growing up in Oklahoma I've been through plenty of tornados. Pretty scary when wind can rip mature trees right up out of the ground and throw them around!

                                  Hi,
                                  Just wondering if anyone has info on recipes for beef soup and frybread to feed 200-300 people at an outdoor powwow? My step-father passed and we would like to honor him with a feed but have never done this before. I would appreciate suggestions on recipes, ingredients, cooking times, equipment...

                                  If you were forces to live on a small Iceland, big enough to do a powwow dance, alone, what would you bring with you?
                                  There are off course fresh water and enough fruits to survive on your Iceland.
                                  And it's hot enough to not fresh at night.
