Awesome. One day I will travel to one of those places. Maybe once I'm out west in a few weeks I'll be able to see more since the cities and population are spread out.

Why not stop on the way and check out the Utah site? The bortle scale is a 2 there.

That is SO interesting!! I didn't realize there were designated dark areas. All the southern Utah parks are VERY cool and it would sure be something to be there on a dark night when you can't see your hand in front of your face.

I'm hungry for chicken enchiladas but will settle for another steak...(yawn)..with mashed cauliflower and cream gravy! Maybe some coconut flour biscuits too! Gotta stay low carb cuz it's really working!!

You'd be amazed what having darkness does to making plants grow. There are long night and short night plants that require darkness to grow. The short night plants can have their cycles interrupted by just artificial light being shone on them. This if course flies in the face of what they teach kids in school - that plants need sunlight for photosynthesis - plants actually need both daylight and darkness.

Some of these plants are:

Chrysanthemum
Coffee
Poinsettia
Strawberry
Tobacco, var. Maryland Mammouth
Common duckweed, (Lemna minor)
Cocklebur (Xanthium)
Maize – tropical cultivars only

Some short-day facultative plants are:
Hemp (Cannabis)
Cotton (Gossypium)
Rice
Sugar cane

Interesting as well is the fact that some plants require a cool to cold winter to grow. An example are certain types of apple trees require a cold cycle in order for the apples to grow in the spring.

LOL. I've always driven my family crazy with that. I've never kept a neat/clean car.

My eldest brother once offered to wash/clean my car inside and out for $20 'cause he was embarrassed by how filthy my car was. I laughed at him and told him he could wash it if he wanted, but I wasn't paying for it. He's the one it bothered, not me!

My backseat's pretty much pristine - 'cause it's always been covered in trash, so it's hardly ever been exposed to light! I might break down and replace the headliner, though. The shreds hanging from the ceiling are starting to get on my nerves!

Same here. My back seat almost always has a box or two of wires and miscellaneous wires and work junk rolling around on it. Lets also not forget about all the empty bottles and trash that I throw back there when I need to make room for another bottle in the front cup holders... LOL. I'm a slob and proud of it!

Mines all empty cigarette packs, receipts, shopping lists...lots of random and miscellaneous pieces of paper.

Made it even worse when someone smashed out a window in a back door. They couldn't even look inside first and see the only thing there to steal is crumpled up cig. packs?!? Effin' crackheads!

Stopped by the deli on my way home, so it was a Reuben Sandwich for dinner tonight!



It was excellent, but it was on wheat bread. Tasty, but a real reuben needs to be on rye, the darker the rye the better.

Mmmmmmmmm. Schwarzbrot!
