In truth, in about 6 hours I will be identifying as vacationing because I have 6 days off.

Goetsaap (pronounced like goat-sup) is Shoshone. Meaning gravy. Bo-gomb goetsaap would be berry gravy, and I forget the word for chokecherry right now. DOENRAMBEE goetsaap! Had to think LOL

The Shoshone language is related to a bunch, even in Texas and California, and there are Panamint Shoshone around Death Valley, even.

Now I'm trying to think of how to say chocolate, something like doogandee, for the doogandee goetsaap listed above. :)

Not out here; manuela serves me coffee, rodrigo is the bus boy married to a native woman from Michigan, there really is a cook named chuy...etc, etc.... So I guess it depends how you define minority...but at the Dennys I go to, we all get along. I even sit next to an old white guy who doesnt show the slightest annoyance when I speak Mexican half the time, we talk about our kids.

The other day a different old white customer asked me what tribe i am and wanted to see my card LMAO

It seems they've cleaned up their act. Back in the 1990s, ya couldn't turn around without another racist incident at Denny's - refusing to serve Black secret service agents; freaking out because some *gasp* Japanese students came in, etc.. After they had to pay something like $50,000,000 in a class action suit they've taken steps to be more "diverse."

The last time I ate at Denny's some guy accosted me in the parking lot, said he'd give me $10 to take him to the east side so he could find him some hookers and blow (cocaine)!

I told him: No, thank you. Not today!

I don't know if I've told this story before. But it's funny enough (imo) that it bears repeating!

Okay. So there's this Hispanic woman I work with. She's, I guess, third generation. Her grandparents spoke only Spanish. Her parents are fully bilingual. She kinda speaks/understands Spanish.

She'd never been to a Tejano bar before. So one weekend she and some other Hispanic friends went to one here in town. Afterwards, her friends asked her what she thought and if she enjoyed it. She said yes, she really had a good time and the music was fun to dance to. But she didn't understand why all the songs were about enchiladas.

Her friends were confused and then figured out that whenever she heard "encantada" she thought she heard "enchilada!"
