I don't typically keep snacks in my desk drawer. I used to keep granola bars in a drawer until a mouse had gotten into them and nibbled on the corners of every last bar!

My cousin made Texas Indian tacos for dinner. Smoked brisket on fry bread. Yummy!

Somebody besides me has to keep Little Debbie in business. LOL! Since he retired, hubby has become Chief CBW-that's Chief Cook and Bottle Washer-and today he tells me he wants to make sweet potato pone for Cmas. dinner. I got my recipe out, so he would have it, and I ended up telling him how to do because he said he can't read my writing.

If anyone wants the recipe-take some sweet potatoes-1 or 2 per person, peel them, and cut them into bite size pieces, mix them with a few tablespoons melted butter, and a 1/2 c. or so of brown sugar. Cover and bake @350 until the potatoes are tender, then top with tiny marshmallows, and let them melt over the top to make a glaze. The original recipe said to grate the sweet potatoes, but I happen to be rather fond of the skin on my knuckles, so I do it this way now. LOL

Well, I'm back from the coast. Spent last week down with my cousins, since my mom was going to spend time the branch of her family that doesn't -- uh -- enjoy my company. So I gave this year's family drama a miss.

My beach house reservations got messed up, so the rental folks gave me a bunch of free days to induce me to rent a bigger, fancier (more expensive) house. Full kitchen, whirlpool tub.... Right on the beach. Central heat and AC -- I needed that AC Christmas day, LOL. It was a nice place.

It had a flock of resident crows. I woke up the first morning and there was a crow every 18" the whole length of the deck railing. My cousin came over to roast/smoke eggplants for baba ghanoush on the grill at my rental. When she finished, she set the eggplants on the platter and turned around. The crows descended and stole an eggplant!

We had a shrimp boil on Boxing Day. Texas browns, little red potatoes, corn and lots of Old Bay. We tried to eat out the deck, but the sea gulls were too aggressive, LOL.

i remember my first xmas break spent on a beach, when a bunch of us jumped in a big ol van and drove to florida for new years. that was one awesome week.

Happy New Years to you too. Winter break is now over and so I have to go back to work tomorrow! Wahhh.
