  • WD and Eyes in the chicken business. Good luck!! LOL! Been there, done that. We did the incubator thing too-what a pain turning the eggs. Don't know if you know this or not, but if you let the hens set the eggs, about the time they are ready to hatch, the snakes will come around. We used to lay a sulpher powder border around the coop to keep the snakes out. They don't like crawling over it 'cause it burns their bellies.

I've been having internet issues-my laptop wasn't playing nice with the work internet. Still having some issues, but it's a lot better. I can at least get online now. Took my laptop to the shop and of course, it hooked up to their net just fine. The guy couldn't find any issues. Maybe it just needed to connect to a different wifi. Who knows-I sure don't. LOL!

    • 78°F in the house and I got the flu, not knowing if I am freezing or sweating, so I am wearing a jumper and a thick jacket on top. Being over 60 years old and since I have no one helping me in situations like this since 10 years I had to go buy foods in the store and when I said to the cashier that I feel cold the other older woman behind me started laughing about me with the cashier. No mercy for me anywhere.

Thanks wardancer. I had some chicken soup kinda dinner last couple of days and it is getting better bit by bit. I am thankful for this.

The air conditioner in our public transport system is always switched on too cold. It is amazing, feels like sitting in a refrigerator (even when temps outside are moderate) with this icy wind blowing onto the head, ears and shoulders for an hour or so, depending how far I have to travel and no way to escape from this ice cold wind. Looks like I will have to carry a well padded jacket and a bonnet with me even in hot summer, just in case. Having complained about the ice wind to the bus driver well, he said, he likes it that way. That's all. Have a nice day and some coffee's been served now.

            • Chicken bread. You'll have to wait until Oct and go to Bowie, TX for the Chicken and Bread Festival, LOL. Then I suspect they'll serve you fried chicken and biscuits.

This is what ya need for breakfast - chackewe con huevos:

Get to Pueblo Harvest Cafe in Albuquerque; they'll fix you up.

              • Tanaashgiizh (my apologies if I spelled that wrong)

                3.5 - 4 c. water
1 Tbsp juniper ash (You can omit)
                1 c. blue cornmeal
                pinch salt

Bring water to a boil and add ash. Slowly whisk in cornmeal. Bring back up to a boil, then lower heat. Cook with very frequent stirring until smooth and thickened, about 15 mins.

Lovely plain. Or top with dried fruit, nuts, brown sugar and a splash of milk or half and half. Or go savory and top with roasted green chile, cheese and touch of sour cream.

The ash helps make the bound niacin in the corn bio-available.

                • My choice is the Pueblo Harvest cafe and the chackewe con huevos.

There must be more of unknown tasty native food.

If only beam me up would work. Sigh.

                  • The chackewe con huevoes is carne adavado (pork cured and cooked in red child sauce), a fried egg, tomato and cheese, served over blue cornmeal mush.

You eat more native foods than you know. Eat bratkartoffiln, kartoffelnsalat, or peloffieln (sorry for the spelling spellcheck is fighting me every step of the way)? Potatoes are a New World food. My favorite Prinztentorten. Chocolate and vanilla. Bohenen un speck. The beans are probably New World. Your national cuisine would be in bad shape without potatoes, LOL.

Yeah, the potatoes reduced once hunger in Prussia. I was introduced by the King to feed the people. Not without difficulties to ignorance.

Without potatoes a lot of meals and food would not exist.
