A squirrel, I hope, decided to shelter in the attic, over my bedroom. It sounds like it's moving a piano up there. The cats are having a conniption. My Siamese woke me, when she tried to walk on the trim over the door by my bed. My three-legged baby is climbing the walls. Even the elderly and lazy Bucky is pacing the floor.

Well , it's a tad chilly here. -6 this morning with the "real feel" of -16 ! Lost 1 hen but everyone else is doing ok. The horses seem to be doing amazingly well !Healthy and fat ! LOL

I tried to keep my outdoor cat inside last night, but he got bored and demanded to be let out. I bought him a heated shelter for Christmas. This morning there was a squirrel laying spread eagle on the heated mat inside. Jet was across the street sauntering out the cat door of the neighbor's heated garage.

It's literally freezing here. May even snow on Wednesday. We have a 90% chance of freezing rain and the high isn't even going to hit 35. I need to head to Tractor Supply and see if they have battery operated socks. If not, I don't think my feet will thaw out until May.

May be you look for accumulator operated heated socks with solar recharging. Else you might need truck of batteries which end up as hazardous waste.

I recommend the old coal driven mini heaters. OK, they are uncomfortable under the feet.

I hate to whine, since the folks up north are really getting clobbered, but I will anyway, LOL. We aren't getting above freezing until Weds. My water heater is in the attic, which has huge vents at each end. Despite several layers of insulation on the pipes, I run a little hot water to keep things from freezing. And I have two facets with pipes along outside walls. So I'm running water on both of those. I'm an old lady, the sound of the dripping/running water causing me to have to spend half my day in bathroom, LOL.

Last night I lured my elderly cat underneath the blankets on the foot of my bed. Kept my feet nice and toasty until 3am when he got hungry.

Coffee !!! Well , this morning we have a degree ! Just 1 ! LOL All the schickens and horses are alive and well and so far , coping with the cold. The sun is shining and it sure looks warmer than it is ! Should get to around 18 today !

coffee , a little sugar and a little creamer......that's what works for me ! Got up to around 22 today but it's back down to 13 now. We're gonna watch a little TV and get to bed early !

It just keeps getting better. LOL! We are headed for a few hours of freezing rain starting about 4:30 this morning, the it's supposed to snow, then more freezing rain. That's probably going to make the drive home in the morning rather interesting. Being from a Southerner, I have no experience driving on icy roads. I do know that I won't be back into work tomorrow night. I'm not driving on ice, especially when the local government offices will be closed and they are telling people to stay off the roads unless it's absolutely necessary. My boss has other help who can work my shift. I've never been under a winter storm warning in my life, so this is interesting-mildly. :)

No kidding. Driving on frozen rain on a road is very dangerous. On only a very little uphill or downhill road you may end up in the ditch. When the car starts to slip you are quick in the position to gain control again. Very uncomfortable.

Even slowing down on a flat road you may not stop nearly where to intended to come to a full stop. Had its ones happen. I am still tempted to curse today. It was a costly accident.
