And there is no hope. There will be no truck with a blade fixed to the front, crunching along on its chains, to scrape away the snow. There will be no gritter to spread lovely, freezing point depressing salt. You are alone.

No the problem is you're not alone. There are others out there with you, slipping on ice and water covered elevated ramps. Frequently they are suffering from the delusion that birth north of the Mason Dixon line has gifted them the ability to drive on a skating rink. Or they think four-wheel drive will magically glue their tires to the road deck.

Just remember, pray hard and go slow and easy.

    If you begin to skid

While Shakspeare's Dick the Butcher recommended killing all the lawyers, he didn't recommend consumption, LOL. I hope this is a different usage.

Thanks for the skidding link. I can never remember if it's turn into the skid or out of it. This is now imprinted on my brain. I knew the part about just taking your foot off the gas and not stomping on the brakes. I could really handle it if my life wasn't getting this kind of interesting. On the bright side, we heat with gas, so if the power goes out, we will still be warm. I also have jugs of water left from Irma, so, we will be good.
Take nothing for granted. Life can change irrevocably in a heartbeat.

I will not feed the troll-well, I will try.

Yes Advocaat. You may take Verpoorten as a substitute though the local stuff without brand name as Eierlikör is much better.

It is holy medicine though some will argue that "Klosterfrau Melissengeist" is much more holy.

I should have the wild days left behind but may be not completely. LOL

          • Thank goodness for Google. Apparently, advocaat is also a Dutch liqueur/custard made with egg yolks, brandy, vanilla, and honey. Eggnog on steroids.

            • My English Dictionaries Pondts and Langenscheidt told me, that "Eierlikör" translates to advocaat.

Advocaat and Verporten are in a way comparable to CoCa Cola and Pepsi.

              • Coffee ! And a word of advice ! Driving on ice is next to impossible ! With that said , the age of automatic transmissions has increased the danger! An automatic still turns the wheels even when braking , therefor making stopping , turning on slick roads difficult. In areas where possible slip the vehicle into neutral when approaching a stop and feather the brakes. 4 wheel drive is safer but not invincible by any means ! LOL

                • Advocaat is apparently the correct word in English. While I'm no expert on alcoholic beverages, I believe this is a rare beverage in the US and it's consumption may be confined to certain geographic regions and ethnic communities. I certainly had never heard of it before today.

                        • Oh, I forgot. I spent a little of the money I got for my jewelry on some lovely natural Kingman spiderweb cabs. I'm finally beginning to get good enough to start using high-quality stones. They just came yesterday. Pretty, pretty. I've got to design a couple of really special pieces for these.

I remember the picture of the necklace you did and posted. I think highly of this necklace to be a really special piece. I can't forget about that composition like as caught by a rope and tied.
