I was guessing 500 , I looked it up and they have approx. 591 tandem axle snow plows and 6 towable snowplows plus a fleet of "brine spreaders" that spray liquid salt ! Crazy !LOL

Back when Irma blew through here, we lost about 40 feet or so out of the top of a beautiful cedar tree in the back. The iced storm took another 15 or 20 feet out of it. Since we are supposed to have stuff start blooming in another 6 weeks or so, I'm wondering how flowery our Spring will be. We are going to have another two nights of hard freezes. School shut down at 8:45. All pupils and teachers send home. Can't remember that that happen ever in my lifetime before.

It makes sense that in areas where snow and ice are not common that they don't waste tax dollars on plows and salt but they should put together plans because extreme weather is becoming more and more frequent and will, if climate models are correct, probably be the norm in the future.
I just looked at the weather for the next few weeks and it looks like today is the last of the super cold days for a while. We are starting to normalize, which will give us averages in the 40s.

Happened some years ago when snow and ice stayed for some more days than usual. Not enough hardware, salt, manpower and no emergency plans.

Get out your swim suits and suntan lotion kiddies! We're going break 50F by late afternoon. My windshield washer fluid (I guessing the oil change place got cheap and used plain water) finally thawed. I've already had to wash off one bird bombing, by opening my window, while waiting for the light to change, and throwing the remains of a bottle of water across the windshield.

Our cold snap will be over in a day or so. Tonight is the last hard freeze-hopefully. I do like the cold for one reason. It makes the well water come out fo the tap so cold and tasty.Take nothing for granted. Life can change irrevocably in a heartbeat.
