    No the Spanish took the potato to Europe from the Andes. For a while they were an imported food coming form South America and the Channel Islands, where they were also an introduced crop. Actually they were not rapidly adopted in many parts of Europe.

        I grew up in an era when the schools taught us Indian people had contributed little to nothing to American culture. In seventh grade, my American history teacher told me Indians hadn't even advanced enough to invent the wheel, therefore they couldn't possibly have contributed to the modern world. Kind of a depressing thing to hear when you want to grow up to be a scientist.

        He isn't alone. Lots of people still think Native peoples contributed little to the modern world. When, in fact, their crops, medicines, tools and ideas changed the world.

        Chocolate, Avocado, Corn, Potato, Beans (lima, common, scarlet runner...), Cassava, Peanut, Papaya, Jerusalem Artichoke, Chiles (and other peppers), Pineapple, Quinoa, Squash, Pumpkins, Sunflower, Sweet Potato, Tomato, Tomatillo, Maple syrup & sugar, Allspice, Cranberries, Blueberries (not to be confused with the European bilberry), Cashew, Pecan, Chicle, Cherimoya, Jicama, Yucca, Vanilla, Guava, Wild Rice, Black Walnut, File powder...

        Rubber, Chewing gum, Lasso, Petroleum Jelly, Kayaks, Snowshoes, Moccasins, Hockey, Hammocks, Toggle Harpoons, Use of guano as fertilizer...

                i been doing alot of reading the last couple weeks since the temps dropped. also started getting rid of stuff and packing. gonna move in a couple months when my lease is up. think i'll have some iced tea wit my frybread. midnite munchies

                  Hey ! Somebody have "CHUY" whip up a berfday cake for "G" ! Somebody ate the one he was supposed to get......maybe it was the dog.......anyway , we need another one , QUICK !
                  I believe blood quantums are the governments way to breed us out of existance !


                  They say blood is thicker than water ! Now maple syrup is thicker than blood , so are pancakes more important than family ?

                  There are "Elders" and there are "Olders". Being the second one doesn't make the first one true !

                  Somebody is out there somewhere, thinking of you and the impact you made in their life.
